Review consensus
Black Myth: Wukong is a visually spectacular action RPG built around fast, dodge-focused combat and an exceptional lineup of boss encounters. Its adaptation of Journey to the West gives the adventure a distinctive mythological identity, while transformations, spells, staff stances, and flexible progression make major battles consistently entertaining. Critics commonly found the areas between bosses less successful: exploration is constrained by linear layouts and invisible walls, normal enemies can feel underwhelming, and the story may be difficult to follow without familiarity with the source material. Technical issues, including stuttering and PS5 performance problems, also temper an otherwise impressive debut.
