Destiny 2 delivers an exceptionally polished first-person shooting experience, with satisfying weapons, striking sci-fi environments, rewarding loot, and cooperative activities that are especially enjoyable with a coordinated fireteam. Critics generally viewed it as a substantial improvement over the original thanks to better progression, more accessible activities, and a clearer campaign. However, the story remains relatively derivative, while repetitive content, recycled assets, a thin solo-social experience, and an underdeveloped endgame limit its longevity. Monetization and Bright Engrams also drew criticism for making a premium game feel uncomfortably close to pay-to-win. It is strongest as a social shooter rather than a complete MMO.
