Review consensus

Dying Light: The Beast is a focused, ferocious return to the series’ strongest ideas. Critics consistently praised its crunchy melee combat, exhilarating parkour, atmospheric Castor Woods setting, and substantially scarier nighttime encounters. Beast Mode adds a satisfying emergency power surge without completely removing the game’s survival tension, while the smaller, denser world avoids much of Dying Light 2’s open-world bloat. The experience is held back by a familiar, uneven story, repetitive boss design, occasional traversal tedium, and co-op level-gating issues. Even so, its polished movement, visceral combat, and stronger horror identity make it one of the franchise’s most cohesive entries.
