Review consensus
Hogwarts Legacy successfully delivers the fantasy of exploring Hogwarts, learning recognizable spells, flying across the surrounding countryside, and uncovering a richly detailed Wizarding World. Its strongest elements are the castle’s atmosphere, stylish spell-based combat, satisfying exploration, and occasional standout quests. However, the broader open world is padded with repetitive activities, bland enemy encounters, cumbersome inventory and spell management, and underdeveloped storytelling. Technical issues, especially on PC, further undermine the experience. Critics broadly regarded it as an unusually ambitious and enjoyable licensed RPG, though one held back by familiar open-world design, uneven narrative execution, and mechanical bloat.
