Review consensus
Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is a polished and emotionally engaging sequel that improves nearly every major part of Insomniac's formula. Web-swinging is faster and more satisfying thanks to the web wings, combat gains depth through parries and expanded abilities, and the larger New York offers stronger side content. Peter and Miles both remain compelling, while Kraven and Venom support a dramatic story about loneliness, identity, and connection. Critics consistently found the game highly enjoyable, though it is more refinement than reinvention. Repetitive combat, occasional busywork, uneven pacing, and some minor technical issues keep it from feeling flawless.
