Review consensus
Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a highly faithful remake of a stealth classic, preserving the original’s memorable Cold War story, eccentric characters, survival systems, boss encounters, and playful experimentation. Its Unreal Engine 5 presentation makes the jungle, character models, lighting, weather, and injuries dramatically more detailed, while modern controls and quality-of-life shortcuts make movement, aiming, camouflage, and navigation much smoother. Critics generally view its conservatism as both its greatest strength and limitation: Delta rarely reinvents the segmented level design or story, and the new controls can make some encounters too easy. Minor performance issues and awkward injury management also remain, but the overall result is polished, respectful, and excellent.
