Review consensus
MLB The Show 25 remains one of the strongest and most authentic sports simulations available, with excellent on-field baseball benefiting from more varied fielding, improved defensive differentiation, and a broad range of control options. Its biggest gains come in the surrounding modes: Road to the Show’s high-school and college introduction gives careers more personality, while token-based progression offers greater control over player development. Franchise free agency is more strategic, and Diamond Quest adds a compelling single-player option to Diamond Dynasty. However, the visual presentation is showing its age, Ambush Hitting feels underdeveloped, microtransactions remain, and the absence of a new individual Storylines campaign is disappointing.
