Review consensus
Monster Hunter Wilds refines the series’ signature loop of hunting monsters, crafting equipment, and taking on tougher prey with its most fluid combat yet. Focus Mode, wounds, weapon-specific counters, seamless regions, and the versatile Seikret mount make hunts more approachable without removing their satisfying depth. Critics consistently praised the diverse monster roster, weapon feel, and improved presentation, while finding the expanded story overly cinematic and predictable. The biggest concerns are technical performance, occasional interface and traversal friction, washed-out environments, limited build depth, and a campaign that can interrupt the action. Even so, the core hunting experience remains exceptionally compelling.
