Review consensus
NHL 27 remains an enjoyable hockey simulation when the puck drops, benefiting from sharper visuals, livelier arenas, improved goaltender animations, more responsive menus, and modest refinements to team AI and physical play. However, the package feels more like NHL 26 with a substantial presentation facelift than a true annual evolution. Connected Franchise is especially disappointing because of its limited support for AI-controlled teams, while HUT remains heavily monetized and several modes feel stale. Longtime NHL fans and players returning after several years will find a polished and accessible hockey game, but recent owners should wait for a discount. Comparable experiences include NHL 26, NHL 25, and NHL 2K10.
