Review consensus

Ninja Gaiden 4 is a ferocious and technically demanding revival that preserves the series’ precision while adding PlatinumGames-inspired spectacle. Its combat is the clear highlight: responsive movement, aggressive enemies, satisfying dismemberment, deep weapon variety, and the Bloodraven system create a rewarding skill ceiling. Yakumo is a strong mechanical successor to Ryu, while the bosses, replayable trials, multiple difficulties, and post-game content provide substantial reasons to continue playing. However, the story is generally forgettable, some progression systems feel unnecessary, traversal lacks depth, and Ryu’s late-game chapters reuse content and disrupt the momentum. Even so, it is one of 2025’s strongest character-action games.
