Review consensus
Pokémon Legends: Arceus is a bold reinvention that shifts the series’ focus from gyms and trainer battles to exploration, research, and catching Pokémon in the wild. Critics consistently praised its seamless capture system, flexible progression, satisfying Agile and Strong battle styles, expanded Sinnoh lore, and more distinctive Pokémon behavior. Research tasks can become repetitive, while technical shortcomings—including texture pop-in, low-detail environments, frame-rate issues, and a clunky interface—hold it back from true polish. Even so, its sense of discovery and refreshing structure make it one of the most inventive and engaging Pokémon games in years.
