Review consensus
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a polished and ambitious Metroidvania built around exceptionally responsive movement, inventive environmental puzzles, satisfying combat, and a richly interconnected Mount Qaf. Its strongest moments combine precision platforming with time-based abilities, rewarding exploration and mastery without making failure feel unfair. Critics consistently identify the narrative as the major weakness: the story can be confusing, underdeveloped, and disruptive to the otherwise strong gameplay flow. The opening hours also take too long to reveal the game’s full potential. Even so, its excellent level design, accessibility options, memorable boss encounters, and fluid controls make it a strong recommendation for action-platformer and Metroidvania fans.
