Review consensus
The First Berserker: Khazan earns strong praise for its weighty, parry-focused combat, demanding but generally fair bosses, distinctive cel-shaded presentation, and flexible weapon skill trees. Its best encounters force players to learn attack patterns and make defense an active part of offense. However, the game’s story is widely considered thin, while linear and repetitive mission structures limit exploration. The randomized loot system can also become tedious, and some defensive mechanics feel inconsistent. Even so, the excellent boss design and satisfying combat make Khazan a compelling soulslike, particularly for players who enjoy Sekiro- and Nioh-inspired action.
