Review consensus
Guilty Gear -Strive- successfully modernizes the series without abandoning its technical identity. Its streamlined mechanics, high-impact damage, distinctive roster, spectacular anime-inspired presentation, and exceptionally strong rollback netcode make it both more approachable and deeply rewarding at higher levels. The revised Gatling combo structure and wall-break system reduce some of the freeform creativity that longtime players valued in earlier entries, while the single-player package and avatar-based lobbies are less polished than the core combat. Even so, the consensus is strongly positive: Strive is a stylish, mechanically satisfying competitive fighter whose online experience and visual production set an unusually high standard.
