Review consensus
Marvel Rivals is a fast, colorful, highly accessible team shooter that succeeds through its enormous Marvel roster, distinct character abilities, destructive maps, team-up mechanics, and satisfying free-to-play structure. Critics broadly agree that it is great fun, especially for Marvel fans and players who enjoy casual or cooperative hero shooters. Its biggest weaknesses are equally consistent: heavy Overwatch influence, uneven balance, visual chaos, limited launch modes, underdeveloped competitive structure, and expensive cosmetics. Players seeking a polished esports experience may be frustrated, while fans of Overwatch 2, Paladins, Team Fortress 2, or Marvel’s superhero roster will find plenty to enjoy.
