Review consensus
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is widely regarded as the definitive way to experience BioWare’s original trilogy. Its strongest improvements target Mass Effect 1, with better combat, aiming, cover, driving and visuals making the oldest game substantially more approachable. The collection preserves the trilogy’s exceptional characters, interconnected choices, rich world-building and memorable loyalty-driven storytelling, while including nearly all downloadable content. However, some dated mechanics, awkward facial and lighting changes, problematic writing, uneven DLC integration and the absence of Mass Effect 3 multiplayer remain noticeable. Despite those shortcomings, the package offers extraordinary scope and value for newcomers and returning fans alike.
