Review consensus
Redfall’s vampire-hunting premise, atmospheric Massachusetts setting, distinctive heroes, and occasional Arkane-style environmental storytelling provide a few bright spots, especially in cooperative play. However, the consensus is that its repetitive missions, empty open world, shallow loot and skill systems, weak enemy AI, uneven combat, and pervasive technical problems overwhelm those strengths. The game rarely delivers the creative problem-solving associated with Arkane, instead funneling players toward routine firefights and waypoint-driven objectives. Character abilities can create enjoyable team combinations, but solo play exposes the game’s tedium most sharply, leaving Redfall feeling unfinished and caught between an immersive sim and a conventional looter shooter.
