Review consensus
Ninja Gaiden 2 Black is a visually impressive Unreal Engine 5 remake that restores much of the original sequel’s aggressive combat identity while retaining selected Sigma 2 improvements. Critics consistently praise its fast, precise dismemberment-focused fighting, varied weapons, strong performance, and renewed sense of danger. However, the underlying design shows its age through repetitive encounters, weak bosses, awkward platforming, and a troublesome camera. Its difficulty is more approachable on lower settings but remains demanding at higher levels. Overall, it is an excellent modern entry point and a highly satisfying action game, though not the definitive version every longtime fan expected.
