Review consensus
Diablo IV is a polished, atmospheric action RPG that successfully returns the series to a darker visual identity while modernizing combat with dodge-focused encounters, flexible skill trees, open-world exploration, and extensive loot customization. Critics consistently praised its satisfying demon-slaying loop, presentation, class variety, cinematics, and strong production values. However, the campaign and side activities can become repetitive, the talent systems are not always clear, and enemy scaling sometimes produces uneven difficulty. Its always-online, live-service structure and prominent monetization concerns also weaken an otherwise compelling foundation. Diablo IV is an enjoyable and substantial sequel, though it rarely feels revolutionary.
