Review consensus
Commandos: Origins successfully revives the series’ demanding real-time stealth tactics with large, intricate missions, distinct commando abilities, varied environments, and multiple solutions to most objectives. Command Mode makes coordinated actions satisfying, while the campaign’s optional objectives and collectibles add replay value. However, the experience is held back by technical problems, including visual glitches, frame-rate drops, screen tearing, awkward animations, and long load times. Console players face an especially serious issue: imprecise, laggy controls that can undermine otherwise excellent planning. It is a strong modernized successor for PC players and patient genre fans, but a compromised console release.
